Part V: Snakes (Chapter 96)


I
have never forgiven Mother for phoning Johnny Lawrence that night. Or Johnny for breaking the spell.

Not that it made any difference in the long run. I moved in with Snake the next day, and we lived together for three months – that is, until Snake’s bad acid trip.

But that’s another story.

Still, something was lost, a wedding night gone awry. No matter how many times I make love in my lifetime, I’ll never recapture the heat of that thwarted first time, the one time I would have truly given myself over to another person.

Even after Snake and I did get together, our love making never reached the same crescendo.
